How I Get Kids Excited to Play Guitar
The secret is simpler than you think.
One dad put it perfectly.
When he signed Lucas up for guitar, he wanted “something he could enjoy, take pride in, and hopefully develop a lifelong love for.”
That’s what every parent wants. But most kids never get there. They get stuck with confusing lessons, no real songs, and “practice more” until guitar feels like homework.
But Lucas’s lessons went differently.
He couldn’t wait for guitar each week. Instead of practice battles at home, his dad noticed “how much he’s learning and how excited he is to practice.”
A few months in, Lucas walked on stage at his first recital and played with confidence. (True Story! Name changed for privacy.)
“To see how far he’s come in just a few months speaks volumes.”
Over the past ten years, I’ve developed a method that teaches guitar twice as fast, and keeps kids excited to come back.
So how do my students do so well?
Here’s how.
Introducing… The Accelerated Guitar Lab!
The Guitar Lab is a weekly, accelerated beginner guitar program designed specifically for kids aged 7 and up.
Most beginner guitar students take five years to play their favorite songs all the way through. Mine get there in half the time, and then keep going.
In just two years, my most dedicated students go from never holding a guitar to making their parents ask, “How did you learn that so fast?!”
What Your Child Will Experience.
Your child learns 28 songs and completes their first book within three months of starting.
Your child gets twice as much time with the instructor than the average studio – this is one of the secrets to my students’ success.
You’ll have peace of mind knowing your child learns from me, a working professional guitarist, and goes home excited, knowing exactly what to play.
Your child performs for family and friends at the Lancaster Guitar Showcase, our twice-a-year student concert recital series, within the first six months.
Within the first year, your child learns the skills to:
Play their favorite songs
Perform for Grandma / Grandpa
Play guitar in the school band
Play and sing in the worship band at church
Jam out with friends
Learn songs on their own
Write their own original songs
“He joined his middle school jazz band and successfully auditioned for his school’s advanced Modern Band. He writes his own music and plays all the time. He even insisted on taking his guitar with him on vacation.”
— Becki M.
What’s Included in the Program.
The Four-Song First Lesson Guarantee
Who says your child can’t play a full song in their first lesson? My students go home playing four, on the very first day!
All Your Method Books, Included
Students love learning the fundamentals of music with my Lesson Companion series. Written over ten years of teaching and working professionally, it makes music education feel effortless and fun.
Weekly Accelerated Classes
This is the main way students make progress. Each week, students learn new skills and 1-2 new songs to jam out with. They play music games and learn all their songs with me, unlike most studios, which only teach concepts and then force the kids to practice at home.
Lancaster Guitar Showcase
Twice a year, my students take the stage in front of a live audience. Within their first six months, your child is invited to perform at the Lancaster Guitar Showcase, our biyearly student concert recital series.
Watch in amazement as your child demonstrates real musical skill in front of an audience of friends and family!
Intermediate / Advanced Students
When students reach an intermediate level, the music is theirs to choose: rock, pop, classical, worship, metal, country, punk, movie themes, blues, and jazz. I play it all, and if they want to learn it, I’ll teach it.
Advanced students go further: improvising, writing their own music, auditioning for district and state band competitions, and learning music theory at a college level.
Six of my students used pieces we worked on together to earn their spots in college music programs, and one received a scholarship.
“After only a few short months, I passed my audition for college using the skills I developed with Kyle and even got a scholarship for my performance.” - Jayce H.

If you join my program, and your child doesn’t like it, I’ll completely refund your first month of tuition.
Not one person has ever asked for this in the past 10 years!
“Thank you for teaching my son proper sheet music and real notes, not just chords. His last instructor was good but he didn't teach him how to really read music and just played chords. Saw tonight [at the performance] you have a passion for them learning how to actually play properly. “
- Chris S.“Kyle is incredibly patient, kind, knowledgeable, and truly has a gift for teaching. His new ‘Guitar Lab’ format has been a wonderful experience, providing students with more time for practice and individualized instruction while learning alongside other students in a fun, motivating environment.”
-Emily H.“I was able to use two pieces we worked on for my college audition and would not have been accepted into the music program without Kyle's help. I have been blessed to receive such encouraging coaching from him and to have grown so much. ”
